Hey all! Corrie here to show you a cute way to use Hambly overlays in a custom home decor project.
I have had all sorts of ideas for redecorating my youngest daughter's bedroom. One of them is to do a collage of picture frames over her bed with some of her artwork and other things for some pops of color.
I got these for 50% off at Michaels.
I then cut a piece of white cardstock larger than the opening of the mat. The mat opening was 7X5 so I cut my paper 8X6.
Then I cut strips of Hambly overlays to layer on the white cardstock.
I put tape along the outside edges of the cardstock to hold the overlay strips. The cardstock is larger than the mat opening, so the tape will not show.
Next I trimmed the excess off the ends.
I then cut out the letter M on my Silhouette out of white cardstock. This could be traced and cut out by hand though.
I layered the pieces together. First the cardstock with the overlays. Then the negative M. Then the mat. So the "M" would stand out better, I machine stitched around the letter.
Then I put it all back in the frame and I have some cute customized wall art!
Really great idea Corrie!
