Here's Leah -
I've been working lately to surround myself with things that inspire me - and to act on the inspiration! I recently did a layout featuring the work of Gandhi, and how he's inspiring me to constantly work to become a better person. Today I thought I'd share what's been inspiring some of my art/craft work. Colorful fabric waiting to be stitched together, watercolors from my work table and a colorfilled chevron scarf I crocheted through the winter... As I looked through all of it, i struck me that it would be SO fun to create a colorwheel with all of the fabulously colored transparencies!
Here's what I did to create the colorwheel:
I first started by choosing nine overlays in rainbow colors. I ended up needing ten, but you'll see the nine I originally chose here!
After laying them out together, created a circle template using my super high-tech... IKEA plate. I traced and cut my circle.
Then started cutting the overlays. I eyeballed the size, and then used a ruler to make a straight edge. AFter cutting this one, I just laid it over the rest of the pieces to get the identical size.
I knew I was going to be covering the center of my color wheel with my photo mat, so I applied my favorite dry adhesive to the center of the pieces to attach them to the cardstock circle enough to keep them from slipped while I stitched with my sewing machine.
After stitching in a spiral around the circle, starting in the middle, I just attached my circle to a black cardstock background. Using my favorite redline tape {I get mine from American Crafts} I l pressed a line around the circle to attach the buttons I had lined up from my stash! Now you're all ready to create the layout as you'd like!
