Valentine's Day Project by Mou

Hi there everyone, Mou Saha here.

Today’s tutorial is about creating an interactive secret message for your Valentine!

Supplies:

• Hambly 12'' x 12'' Pen & Ink Paper
• Hambly 12'' x 12'' Old Lace Vellum
• Hambly Hearts Rubon
• Hambly Clear Stickers Elegant Labels
• Wooden spool
• Muslin fabric
• Acrylic paints
• Decorative pin
• Sewing machine

Color a 2” wooden spool pink.

Cut about 3 feet of cream muslin fabric 2” wide. Cut three pieces of 1.75”x12” strips from Pen & Ink paper.

Stitch the three paper strips on the 3 feet of muslin fabric. This adds strength to the paper.

Cut out sections from the Old Lace vellum and attach to the stitched strip. Stitch again to secure lace cutouts permanently so they don’t come apart when handled.

Apply rubon to spool top. Attach clear label sticker on the body of the spool and spell out message.

Attach the stitched strip to spool with glue making sure that the message is still visible. Wind the strip around the spool. Rub on message “To My Valentine” at the end of the strip and add a decorative pin at the end to close.

Give it to someone special :)

Valentine Love Letter Boxes
Hello everyone, this is Janna. Today I got a tutorial to share about how to create little love letter boxes for Valentine´s Day. They are perfect as small surprises, maybe hidden somewhere in the house, next to your sweetheart´s breakfast plate or even send as snail mail.

All you will need is some match boxes and your favorite Hambly supplies!
Here are the things I used to create the love letter boxes:
paper:
brocade, lattice, pen & ink, mini brocade, brocade blossom, brocade blossom (kraft), portrait gallery

rubons:
birds & owls, spilled ink, banners & pennants

overlays:
lattice, little circles, mini moustaches

decoration:
decorative washi tape
clear stickers - butterfly & florals

other:
match boxes, tulle, twine, staples, rhinestones

Now, let´s get crafty :)


You will need match boxes. If you don't have any plain ones, you can also paint the normal ones that you get for free most of the time. Painting the match boxes gives them a rather shabby style.


Pick all you favorite Hambly products that you want to use for decorating the boxes.


Make sure to sew on some paper before attaching them to your box. As soon as you glued it to the box you won't be able to sew with your machine anymore.


Confetti! What fits better to a sweet love surprise than confetti?


Write down love notes, either by hand, computer or typewriter. You can create little banners with them or glue them on patterned paper like I did with one of them.

As you can see these love letter boxes are easily made and they are perfect for using your scraps!!

Valentine's Day Paper Fortune Cookies

I hope everyone is having a wonderful Valentine's Day! Here's a fun little last minute Valentine's project. It's quick and easy and all you really need is paper! Here's the tutorial from one of my previous posts.

Happy Valentines Day … Today I wanted to share some scrappy LOVE with you all. I have created this page to celebrate my love for my three little darlings.
 I want to show you how easy it is to create accents for your pages.

To begin with grab some supplies:
 
 Clearly Heavy Overlay CO100, Teal Doilies R541, White Doilies R538, Gold Doilies R539
 
Other materials used: Little Hearts HP001, Little Circles HP451, Birds on a Wire, Woodgrain Remix HO815, Chicken Coop HO791, Woodgrain alphas P7823, brads, pattern paper, twine, heart punch, sew machine, cuttle bug and embossing folder.

Step1: Trim the clear overlay to measure 6” x 5”. At the same time trim a scrap piece of Kraft cardstock to measure 6” x 5”. Place trimmed Kraft in embossing folder and run through machine. (This just gives the accent extra texture). Randomly arrange and rub teal doilies on clear overlay.

Step 2: Randomly arrange white and gold doilies on embossed Kraft.

Step 3: Place and adhere the clear overlay over the embossed Kraft.


Now you have a gorgeous accent ready for your page!

Valentine's Day Tutorial by Jaz Lee

Hi everyone,
Sweet February is here and that means Valentine's Day is just around the corner. I always believe that handmade gifts are the best especially if they are made from the heart ;) Here is a page I would like to share with you, a Valentine's Day page for dearest hubby. This is a photo of us taken 14 years ago, time flies..so many things have changed but I thank God that the steadfast love stays *wink*.


Here is how I did up this fun page ;)
Step 1 : Get a 12 x 12 pattern paper as the base. Punch a strip of Screen Print Hp 001 and place in the middle.Place an overlay on the right half of the page.


Step 2: Cut out the big turqouise frame from Hambly "All Mixed Up" pattern paper. Place a doily beneath the frame. Place an old storybook paper on the frame ( which you have to border punch on the right, on the frame). Matte a 2R photo with a brown cardstock. Place it on the old storybook paper. Frame the photo using a cut out frame from Hambly "Frame Wallpaper".


Step 3: Prepare the kite. Cut a diamond shape out from a white cardstock. Fold the kite shape into half, from left to right and from top to bottom. Dress up the kite with your favourite pattern papers. On my page I made three kites.


Step 4: Add strings and embellish with flowers, blings or your favourite bellies.


Step 5: Add a birdcage and some white banners.
Play around with rub-ons, add the title and journallings.

Hi there Marie here!

February is the month for love. I use to not be a big fan of Valentines day. I never decorated my home for it and rarely got excited it was coming. That all changed last year. I am not sure why or how but I was bitten by the valentine crafty bug. I made so many crafty things last year for my fireplace mantel it really 'lit a fire' in me (haha sorry for the cheese). So today I am going to share with you one of the crafty things I came up with to decorate your home, using hambly.


Supplies

• Hambly Family Portrait Rubons
• Hambly Remnants Rubons
• twine
• dollar spot frame (or any small frame will do)
• Hambly silk screened paper Brocade blossom
• heart punch
• bits and bobbles
• book page
• scissors
• glue
• foam
• twine
• kraft cardstock

1.Ok first I got my frame at the dollar spot in Michaels. Love these little frames. It was around Christmas time so all they had was green and red but you could totally paint them whatever color you want. I used the red one for my project but the oval green one works just as well. Take your frame and cut out the plastic front. We do not want that because we want our decoration to be 3 dimensional.

2. They are kind enough to give you a template ( the paper inside) use that on your Kraft cs to cut out the shape that is going in your frame.

3. Position your hambly remnants rubon and lightly rub. I wanted a shabby chic look so this is why I say lightly. If you do not then apply pressure when using your rub on. I deliberately did not rub in certain spots to get the look I wanted.

4. Spread a heavy glue ( I use beacon 3 in one) on the back of your kraft card stock and begin wrapping your twine around. This will hold your twine in place and also glue it to the frame. Place on your hinged back and press.

5. Take your cameo rub on and this time rub it on as usual. I used kraft cardstock but you can use any color you choose. Cut out. Pop dot the back and place on top of twine.

6. I wanted mine to say something cute. So I have lots of old book pages and they are just the right size for this little project. I cut out my LOVE and HIM and glued them on with a tiny bit of white glue.

7. Add your bits and bobs to the lower corner. I punched out a heart in hambly added  feathers, hat pin, book page flower and a heart sequins. I also sprinkled glass glitter on the inside rim of the frame. I wanted to give it a little more sparkle.

You are done! Now you have a keepsake to put up every year! Simple, cheap and oh so cute!
