Hello everybody,

Today, I would like to show you how to recycle all yours little pieces of patterned papers, Hambly papers of course !
When I scrap, I really love to go to the end of the paper, scrap the whole paper:)

There's a lot of snow these winter in France and my son loves it !

Step 1 : Begin to sew some lines on a cardstock in blue,
I use kraft cardstock my favorite:)



Step 2 :Glue all the small pieces of papers in every square you create with the sewing,



Step 3 : You can use your punch, your Big Shot and add some stard, little hearts,,
Add also some stickers and rub-ons,
Mix all the colors you want,




Step 4 : Your background is now ready, very creative and colorfull isn't it ?
Now it's time to add one or severals pictures, It's better to use a black and white to add more contrast with your background,




Step 5 : To finish your layout, don's forget your titl », here « Jour de neige » it means « Snow Day », You can use a square to write your journaling too,

Hi everyone! This is Iris and I have a huge love affair with the washi tapes of Hambly. I use it to add color and design to my pages and it is also perfect to make colorful and textured die-cut shapes as embellishments for your pages.

Let me show you how easy and fun it is…

First you will need to select your washi tapes. Choose colors and patterns that will complement each other. Next, die cut a shape or you can also use any of your raw chipboard shapes. I used a heart here. Slowly cover the chipboard with layers of tape. Remember to crumple the tape as you go along so that you will have a nice textured finish to your piece. Here is an example of three finished washi tape covered hearts…And here they are used on a layout for my daughters…

I would also like to show you how fun it is to use even the brand and product texts in the rub-ons. I used those here to add both texture and design to random areas of the page…

Doodles Unleashed blog tour!

The very talented Traci Bautista has just released a new book, and she asked us to be one of the stops for her oline book tour! She also created this beautiful journal below and used our sketch for the front and back cover.

Wonder art journal & art journaling cards
My visual storytelling of words + images is done on the pages of art journals, so for my sketch challenge project I decided to create an art journal and art journaling card inserts. I divided the sketch into two pieces and used the bottom half to inspire the front art journal cover and the top half of the sketch to inspire the back cover of the art journal . Here are the two photos inspired by the sketch challenge

Here are a few pages from the inside of the journal.

The art journal incorporates a few techniques from Doodles Unleashed, from the Stylistic Scrawls section I share continuous writing technique on the cover of the book. Throughout the inside of the journal I have added freemotion stitched letters {technique on p. 88 in Doodles Unleashed}, along with drawing a “Girlie Glam Face.” The art journal cover is made out of Drill cloth, which is smoother than canvas. I prefer this material over canvas because it’s easier to write on since the weave of the fabric creates a smoother surface. I painted a couple of pieces of the fabric with Creative Imaginations Luminarte Radiant Rain sprays and Silks. Then added various Hambly rub-ons then free motion stitched pieces of my printed artwork photos, Hambly papers and overlays on the covers and art journal cards.

When I make journals, I create pages that are not blank, they either have a painted background or elements that provide jumpstarts for my journaling. The art journal cards that are contained in the journal sit loosely in between the fabric covers. On each card there are art journaling spots, where I can add my writing, doodles and other images later. I’ve added freemotion stitched doodles to attach most of the papers to the art journal cards. I love using bits and pieces of the Hambly papers to accent the pages, it’s a great way to use up all the paper scraps. The loose leaf format allows you to take them out and display them on a board or hang them on the wall.

Enjoy the peek inside one of the many handmade books I create. This project can be done as a theme based mini book, photo album or even a smaller size 3”x4” art journal cards. Have fun exploring all the possibilities.

Frame for present and decoration.

Supplies:

• White A4 paper (8.3 inches by 11.7 inches)
• Hambly 12'' x 12'' Lattice Grey Overlay 
• Hambly Hearts Antique White Rubon
• Hambly Alphabet Woodgrain
• Hambly Kraft Cardstock Sticker Owls and Birds
• Hambly Kraft Cardstock Stiker Labels
• Hambly Red Ink on Kraft Textured Paper Little Hearts
• 2 Eyelets
• piece of kraft paper
• piece of yellow paper twine

Step 1. Cut out a white paper in A4, the windows for photos following the tamplate below.
Step 2. Position and glue the pictures. Cut a frame overlay, 1 in wide. Paste it on white paper.
Step 3. Cut a rectangle of 2.8 x 2 in using the paper little hearts in kraft. Apply rubon "love" on the label sticker and place it over the rectangle by setting the dimensional tape.
Place in the upper right of the layout
Step 4. Apply To My Valentine Rubon
Step 5. With the help of two punches, make two circles of different sizes and attach them with tape dimensional. And apply the rubon love.

Step 6. Apply under the bottom of the layout.
Step 7. Add the other stickers as shown in photo below.

Ready! Now just put a frame with glass of your choice!

Paper Bead Tutorial by Kirsty

Hello Hambly, this is Kirsty.  For today’s tutorial, I’ve combined a handful of Hambly papers with a simple stringing tip to make some easy-to-wear jewelry pieces. They’re perfect to give as gifts, or – of course – to keep and wear yourself. (It’s not just me who likes wearing scrapbook supplies, right?) Supply list:

• Scrap of card
• Scissors
• Hambly papers
• Pencil
• Toothpick
• Tacky glue or PVA glue
• Clear varnish or embossing ink pad and clear powder
• Narrow cord, leather/cotton thong or skinny ribbon

Step 1: Copy the bead template  onto card and cut out. Trace around the card shape onto your first piece of paper and cut this out, too.
Step 2: Starting at the narrow end, roll the bead around a cocktail stick. When you’ve rolled roughly half the strip, hold it in place and spread a small amount of glue over the remaining part of the strip.
Step 3: Continue rolling the rest of the strip, pressing the paper end down firmly to secure. Slide off the toothpick, and leave your finished bead to dry. Make as many beads as you need in the same way.

Step 4: Brush 1-2 coats of clear varnish over each bead to seal and protect, or use embossing powder instead. To do this, slip the bead back onto thetoothpick, and roll over an embossing ink pad. Dip into clear embossing powder so the whole bead is covered. Heat to melt, then allow to cool before adding a second layer on top. Step 5: Thread one of the beads onto a length of cord, thong or skinny ribbon. Slide it along so it sits roughly in the middle.
Step 6: Take a second bead, and push one end of the cord through from left to right, and the opposite end of the cord through from right to left.

Step 7: Pull the cord tight, so the second bead sits snugly on top of the first one.
Step 8: Keep adding beads in the same way, as many or as few as you like (5-8 is ideal) to form a pendant.
Once you’ve finished stringing beads, the rest of the cord becomes the hanging mechanism for your necklace. Just tie the ends together at the back of your neck to wear it.
Neutral and kraft-coloured papers work just as well as brighter shades.
You can also thread a cuff-style bracelet using paper beads and the same stringing method. Thread the beads onto wire instead of cord, alternating with small crystal or plastic beads so the wire doesn’t cut into the paper, and add a clasp at either end.

No-sew pin cushion from Jen Rzasa

Here's Jen and her fun project!
Today’s project is a cute no-sew pin cushion that took me about 15 minutes to make!  I started out by picking a rub-on design that I thought would look good, and some fabric (choose one with little or no stretch, so you don’t warp your design)

Cut out a piece of the fabric just bigger than a wooden embroidery hoop (I got mine for about 2 bucks at the craft store)

Apply your design:

At this point, you could just pop the fabric into the hoop, and hang it up as wall art.

….but I’m making a pin cushion, remember? So here’s the next step- cut another piece of fabric, and put some stuffing in between the two layers

Sandwich together the inner ring of the hoop (on the bottom), your stuffed fabric layers, and the larger ring of the hoop (on top).  Tighten the screw.

I cut off the excess fabric with pinking shears to avoid fray, but you could probably just use regular scissors.

Next, I adhered the fabric to the frame with some hot glue.

And there you have it!

Hello hello! Paige Evans here today to show you how to create a fun background for die cut shapes:

First, gather your supplies:
Washi Tape #1 DT101, Washi Tape #2 DT102, Lace Borders R553, P7826 Elegant Labels, P7906 On Edge Borders, Mini Brocade HP067, High Tea HP032, Little Hearts HP000, Hanging Heliconias HP458, Little Circles HP452, ATC Patchwork HP402, Brocade HP386, Woodgrain HP377,
Lattice HO834, Doily Decor HO765
Other: Cardstock, pen, adhesive, scissors, paper cutter, die cut machine

Design a title for your layout background. I used Silhouette Studio and a Silhouette Cameo.

Die cut the image from white cardstock.
On a scrap piece of 12x12 cardstock, start layering washi tape, patterned paper, transparencies, border stickers, and rub ons diagonally from one corner to the opposite corner.
Continue adding strips until the entire paper is covered.
Trim the excess from the edges.

Glue the die cut cardstock on top.
Add journaling spot stickers to an empty corner and write on them with a black pen.
Step back and admire your work!
