Hi everyone! I’m so excited to be doing my very first post for Hambly Screen Prints! I have been itching to scrap a Christmas photo for Hambly but since I was still waiting for my Christmas products, I decided to just go ahead and alter my overlays to make it work.
For this tutorial I wanted to share with you a quick and simple way to add color and customize your overlays to make it fit your holiday themed photos.
The first thing you do is to cut-out the patterns you want to use, I used the Garden Party Overlay…yup, you need to take out your scissors!:)
Next, take some copic markers (alcohol ink and colored permanent markers can be used as well), some dimensional paint, glitter glue, and you are ready to go and transform your screen prints into this…
When coloring the transparencies with copic markers, make sure to flip the transparency over to the side that is not printed (the smooth one), because the alcohol ink in the markers will smear the print and will make your transparency muddy.
Slowly apply the color with your markers in one direction or in a circular motion. Do not keep going over the same area cause it will only lift the color. Allow the color to dry first then you can add in a darker shade at some areas for shadow and blending.
You will notice that I added dimensional paint (like Liquid Pearls by Ranger) and glitter glue (like Stickles by Ranger) to add dimension and added detail to the flowers
Let me show you how I used it for my Christmas layout here… so fun!
I hope you were able to pick up a few useful techniques! Thanks for your visit!
