Holiday Overlay Card by Becky
Oh how I love glitter, and it is a messy element when left to roam the world uncontained! In my home we lovingly refer to it as the herpes of the craft world, and without fail whenever I try to adhere it to anything it will have bits that escape! We will find it on a dog’s nose, in the carpet, my husband’s eyebrow or any number of undesirable places.
My goal was to find a way to incorporate glitter into a holiday card without having the shedding that typically occurs with a glitter project.I started by trimming the gorgeous reindeer overlay into a panel and then a beautiful bright green card stock to go behind it.
It was then machine stitched on three sides to contain the glistening glitter. If you don’t have a sewing machine, you can use a strong hold adhesive and achieve a similar look, but the glitter will stick to the edges of the adhesive.Pour a little bit of glitter into the pocket that you have created. I used two different colors in mine, the pink to compliment the color of ribbon that I planned on using and a white.Machine stitch the last edge shut (or carefully apply adhesive) and get all that glitter contained so it can’t run amuck, creating havoc everywhere it goes. The panel is now ready to be adhered to a card top or a gift bag, and it is so easy to make that you can make many of them in a short time. Don’t forget to tie with a bow!
Sending you warm wishes for a glistening and glittery holiday season!!
