Here's some great projects you can make for Father's Day this weekend. The card and bag using the woodgrain origami bow tie was created by Tiffany Johnson from our DT. View her tutorial to learn how to make these fun bowties.
The circle bowtie treatbag was made by Becky Olsen. Here's her tutorial...
Father’s Day Treat Bag
With Father’s Day just around the corner, I have been thinking of ways to make the day special for my husband. He works hard and is a fantastic dad, and you gotta love a guy who is a great sport about his wife’s crafting addictions :o)I was cruising Pinterest one day and saw this great idea (not sure who to credit, but if you know who it was, thank them for me!) A treat bag that is made from sewing or adhering two circles together that can be ripped open when it is time to enjoy. I love this concept, and just took it a couple of steps further, I wanted something that could be personalized for different occasions, and also be used as a name card at our dinner table when we all eat together on Father’s Day. (I love this idea for holidays too, can’t wait to use it again!)
To start I cut a sheet of the kraft Bowties and a sheet of regular kraft card stock into 4” squares, and find the right die to fit the size.Run the squares through with the die one at a time and then pair them up, one of each. Machine stitch (or adhere) ¾ of the way around the circumference of the circles.
I then applied mustache rub-ons for the side that I will be using as the name cards at the table. If you would be using them for a treat bag only, you could skip this step to save a little time. (but how cute are those mustaches?!!)
Make a quick funnel for the bag using a clean sheet of printer paper to minimize handling of the treats. Then pour in the selected treat until the bag is about ¾ full.
Finish by machine sewing the bags shut, and then adhere letter stickers for the names of your family and guests. (if using rub-ons do this step before you fill the bag)
Place at the table and then enjoy!
