The month of April has been filled with gorgeous projects shown by all the DT girls on how you can create many different types of projects using the NEW Washi Tapes, which have just been released for sale! We hope you've enjoyed the tutorials by the girls and we have many more to come soon.
I'm going to show you how I used a few different Washi Tapes to decorate a plain white box instead of using a regular gift wrapping paper to wrap a gift box.
Step 1 - Pick any empty box size of your choice that you want to use as a gift box, preferably a white base box so you can see the Washi Tapes designs prominently.
Step 2 - First, we work on the cover of the box. Cut a few pieces of Hambly Screenprints papers of your choice. Cut them into different sizes. Adhere them onto the cover randomly overlaying each other. Leave some white space on the cover.
Step 3 - Next, pick out any design of the Washi Tapes and start working on each side of the cover at a time. Pull the tape over the papers if preferred or you can just tape it over an empty white space. Tear or cut one end of the tape and leave the other end over the edge of the cover.
Step 4 - Pull another strip of tape over the first one, slightly overlapping it.
Step 5 - For the other lose ends of the tapes, tuck them under the other side of the cover to secure the tapes properly.
Step 6 - Repeat Step 3 and 4, pulling over different Washi Tape designs across the box cover randomly. You can do it horizontally and vertically. Once you're happy with the look, start working on the side of the cover and the other part of the box.
Step 7 - Before you put any stuff into the box, cover the base of the box with a nice Hambly paper so it'll look more presentable when you gift this box to someone.
Step 8 - Once you're done laying the paper on the base of the box, you can start putting in gifts into the box, like what I did here. I'm planning to present some beautiful fabrics to my girlfriend for her birthday using this box!
I just love how the bright and colorful Washi Tapes look on a plain white box! I tied this box with some brown string and attached a small tag to include a note for my girlfriend!
I hope you like this idea on decorating a plain box using the new Washi Tape for someone special!
