Creating a hanging mobile by Leena
Hi there! It's the time of the week again for another tutorial. I'll be showing you a few simple steps on how to create a hanging mobile.

These are what you need to get started:

A mix of Hambly Screenprints papers of different colors & patterns
Twine
Ribbon
White corrugated board/cardboard
Punches (different shape elements e.g. heart, circle, flower, butterfly etc)
Liquid Glue
Glue Dot

Step 1 - To create dimensional ornaments for the hanging mobile, punch out 5 pieces of each shape to make 1 ornament. For this hanging mobile, I used the scalloped heart, circle and flower punches measuring about 1 3/4" to 2" in dimension.

Step 2 - Fold the punched papers in half. If you want the side of the patterns to appear on the finished ornaments, the desired pattern is folded inwards.

Step 3 - Use glue to join one flap each from the folded papers and continue the same technique until all 5 pieces of papers are glued. Do not adhere both ends first.
Step 4 - Next, apply glue onto the spine of the ornament and thread the twine onto it, keeping enough length for the next ornament. Then, apply glue onto one of the flap to form a complete dimensional ornament.
Step 5 & 6 - Punch out a pair of butterflies and glue them back to back with glue dots onto the twine. Continue to add more ornaments onto the twine. I cut out 2 different lengths of twine measuring 12" and 14" in length (with additional 3-4 inches for tying) and I added 4 and 5 ornaments on each twine's length.



Step 7 - To hang the ornaments, cut out a strip of a white corrugated board (or you can use cardboard) with an inch width and 16" in length to make it into a 5.5" circle. Apply one end of the strip with glue and adhere both ends together in over-lapping manner to form a circle.

Step 8 - Lastly, tie one end of the twine onto the circle board. Space them out evenly. Cut out 5 strips of ribbon measuring 12" each which includes extra length for tying and tie them onto the circle board just next to the twine to ensure the hanging mobile is balanced.
The hanging mobile is now completed and you can hang them any where in your home as a decor!
