Autumn Dinner Table Décor
Here in Utah, autumn is in full swing. The leaves are going through beautiful color changes, and the air is crisp and cool making perfect sweater weather. This always gets my thoughts turned toward gratitude and preparing for a Thanksgiving filled with family, friends and good food.
Decorating is half the fun of preparing for the feast in our home, and every year I make some new projects to integrate into the decoration collective.
I used a new Tim Holtz Sizzix die called “Tattered Leaves”, a few pieces of my yummy Hambly overlays and screen prints, a piece of denim from an old pair of jeans, a chunk of plain duck canvas and some burlap to cut a pile of leaves that would be fun to scatter on the table. Because they are flat we can set plates and serving dishes on them and when the table isn’t set for meals, they add dimension and color.
I was also inspired by the banner that Allison shared for Halloween, so I ran a bunch of the leaves through my sewing machine to achieve that same look; they are strung from side to side in front of the dining room window and cast cool shadows across the room as the sun moves through the day.
For Thanksgiving Day there will also be a pile of leaves on each plate as table place cards, so that each person who shares the day with us will feel welcome and special.
Thanks so much for taking time to visit, and Happy Thanksgiving!
