I love entertaining around the holidays, and often rely on paper details to transform a table and make it more festive. Fancy papers, especially the metallic Hambly papers, can add sparkle and warmth to a table setting. It can help even the most basic of table linens come to life.
This project is an easy one, and requires on a few scraps of paper to complete. It one sitting, you can make enough napkins rings for each guest at your dinner table. They can be identical, or customize each to fit the personality of your guest.
To get started, gather the following materials and tools:
- 2 different Overlays (High Tea and Old Lace)
- 1 metallic paper (Garden Party)
- 7 inches of narrow velvet ribbon
- Kraft Cardstock Alphabet Stickers
- Double-stick Tape
- Stapler
- Glue Gun and Glue Sticks
- Craft Punches in Assorted Shapes
- Scissors
Begin by cutting the following:
An overlay strip measuring 3 inches by 7 inches
A strip of paper measuring 2.5 inches by 7 inches
A second overlay strip measuring 1.5 inches by 7 inches
Next, run a length of double-stick tape on the back side of your paper strip and adhere it to the wider of the two overlay strips, making sure it’s centered.
Run a length of double-stick tape on the back side of your smaller overlay strip and adhere it to the paper strip, making sure it’s centered.
Roll the layered strips into a ring with the ends overlapping by ½ inch. Staple the overlapped ends twice to secure.
Use your hot glue gun to attach the velvet ribbon. Start gluing on the backside (the stapled side) and work your way around the ring. Trim away any excess ribbon. Be careful not to burn your fingers!
Embellish and personalize your ring by gluing a monogram, punched shapes, or both to the top of your ring.Roll your napkin and slip it through the ring.
Set your table, and enjoy! If you have any leftover overlay scraps, use a large craft punch to cut out some “coasters”. It’s a nice way to add a little more texture and pattern to your tabletop.
so dang clever!

They look so intricate and complicated but really when it's explained it doesn't look that hard. I may try this.
