Hello everyone! Can’t believe it’s time for another tutorial...where did that last month go?! This month’s project is something really fun and something you can customise to really make it your own. Here’s what you’re going to need:
- small art canvas
- gesso
- spray inks/mists
- Hambly overlay
- Hambly letter stickers
1.Prepare the canvas by applying a nice, thick layer of gesso. Feel free to be as messy as you’d like...I love the textured look where the gesso tends to collect in certain places.
2. Once the gesso is dry, spray a few different colours of spray inks/mists. Again, be as random and messy as you want...I think it looks better that way!
3. Cut a Hambly overlay to fit your canvas. I left a little border around the edge of the canvas so I could see all that lovely gessoed-up, misted goodness a bit more!
4. Apply Hambly letter stickers to say whatever you want...I chose a very famous quote spoken by the legendary James Dean to give me some inspiration every time I look at the canvas. For my quote, I needed two sheets of the Hambly woodgrain letter stickers, so you’ll need to work out how many of each letter you’ll need. I started sticking the letters from the end of the quote as I didn’t have a clue where to start from but again, it doesn’t have to be too neat. The random look goes quite well on this project!
And that’s it! Super easy but super fun. And thinking about it, something like this would make a great gift for someone. I seem to have this feeling that there might be some big holiday coming up next month that involves giving lots of gifts :p You could knock up a few of these in no time!
Such a great Christmas gift idea! Thanks for sharing!
