new friends

so here's the picture that tara took of all of us in the back of the studio on friday (i grabbed it off tara's blog) kinda wish i would have taken more pics last week.... today i updated the links on the side bar of my blog with some cool new places i've been checking out...i needed to take a break from looking at all the good dt entries..this is so hard to choose, only a few more days til we announce the design team on july 1st!!

my third post of the day...now you know something special happened

our studio had been open to cku-sj students the last few days. it's been great, we have had over 175 people come by to see the silk screening in process and shop.

anyways...i had met Elsie Flannigan at the make-n-takes and she said she might stop by the studio, which i was stoked about. then i got a call from Mary Grace this morning saying she was coming with Emily Falconbridge and Tara Whitney- which was even more exciting..and when they showed up walking into the art room today... Cathy Zielske and Ali Edwards were also there! now, this was the first time i have met any of these wonderful girls.- and since i'm living in my own art world half the time, i asked for introductions...they thought i was crazy...but for me, still so new to the scrapbooking world, this was my first time meeting them..and none the less in the hambly screen prints studio where i work everyday! so they got a tour..i showed them all the good screen prints stuff, but i think the fav was our company car in back...well actually it's a big old bright orange van, everyone who sees it calls it the scooby-doo van. Tara took a pic of all of us in front of it - hopefully i'll get a copy :)

this is my first time ever being involved with cku and it was a lot more of everything than i expected! i was teaching a make-n-take product demo from 9:30-4 pm, i had tentatively made plans to chat with Ali during that time, and i also wanted to walk around and see what everyone else was up too..i didn't get a chance to leave my make-n-take area, much less talk see anything outside of the booth. the day just flew by, we gave out over 500 kits. i met some many wonderful girls. nichole helped me in the morning, and my sis in the afternoon- it's nice to have cassie live so close. everyone loved the page kristi & i created using lots of hambly screen prints. (we had a line at out table i think the whole time.) it had this overlay flap with hidden journaling underneath. maybe next time we will try to teach a class and get even more involved. -i was kinda sad when it was over, since i knew there are more activities going on all weekend.  but my other sister amy is flying in for the weekend - so that will be great.

we also have some kits left over (always better to have more and not run out) so if any of you want a kit, we can send one to you. i think the easiest way would be if you want to place an order- we can just add it in. just put a note that you want it in the comments section. Here's the page sample i did. There is journaling under the transparency flap with the picture.

open studios, cku, dt ...

omg! all the dt entries look so good. this is going to be a hard job to pick our design team, i'm glad there are a few of us making the decisions.

this week is very busy around here. we just got involved in CKU-SJ, which is exciting but we have lots of work to do. tomorrow we are opening our studio to the public from 12-4 pm - so if you are local (bay area/san jose) you better stop by and say hi to me! i'll be leading a tour, and talking about the screen prints / designs, plus the guys in back will be silkscreening the papers. we will also have a store set up, with the entire line of screen prints. then on thursday we are doing a 6x6 page at CKU-SJ, i'll post the poject later this week (i love how it turned out).

so for now, keep posting your favs hambly layouts below- i won't get a chance to really look at them all until friday, so i'll pick the winners then. i just cleaned the scraproom, so i have lots of limited editon screen prints, tons of colorful scraps & extras to give away.

DT update

we have decided to extend the deadline for the hambly design team search until next friday June 16th! (we will still be annoucing the team on July 1st.)

so little

one of my best friends (...not me) just had her girl! this is the first time i have ever held a newborn baby, i can't believe how small she is - everything is so adorable her little nose, her little feet! i would put a pic of my friend here, but she tought she looked tired (!?!!)

she is the cutest, even after a rough morning...look at that yawn :)
