Hambly Fond Farewell DT blog hop

The DT girls were talking on our message board and they suggested doing a farewell blog hop for Hambly.  Visit each of the girls blogs to see what they liked best about Hamby, a favorite project or just a little goodbye note. I'm not sure where to start, but I have some very sad news…as you may be aware, Harry Hambly is looking to wind down operations. As a result, they are no longer designing new products and I am no longer working for them. I have had a wonderful experience designing the Hambly products over the last 8+ years, and working with such genuine people. I will of course continue to design and be a part of this great creative community. This blog will be on hold while I transition into new projects and opportunities. Suplies List

• Cardstock white
• Hambly Paper Little Hearts
• Hamly Paper The Birdcages
• Hambly Overlay Little Hearts
• Hambly Kraft Stickers Christmas Journal Bits
• Hambly Washi Tapes
• Stamp
• Twine red
• Border Punch

Cut a piece of white cardstock 17x20 cm.

Use a punch to the border.

Make a crease to 6 cm from the edge and fold decorated.


Cut a piece of Hambly overlay of 17x5 cm.
Fix decorated underneath the edge of the card.



Cut a piece of 17x4 cm of white cardstock and attach just below the overlay.


Use a rubber stamp for the message card.

Decorate with stickers Hambly, the tape, and whatever else you like.
I cut a circle of paper Little Hearts, and a cage The Birdcages paper, and used with dimensional tape.



Loop using the twine at the bottom of the card, as shown in the picture.

DT Tutorial by Angie

Hello Angie here to share a tutorial on how to make a plain frame in to something you want to hang up. 

I have had these frames laying in my closet forever.  I had nothing in them so I decided to create something in them I would want to hang up.

I first took the frame a part and cut a white piece of cardstock to fit behind the mat. Then I cut an overlay to go over the cardstock.


Then I took a rub-on and placed on the overlay.

I took the butterfly sticker and placed it on a white piece of cardstock and then cut around it.


I layered the butterfly on the top of the rub-on. I added the label sticker and a cute word.




And lastly I took some twine and went around the frame.

Here is another fun frame I created using the same techniques.

DT Tutorial by Paige

Hello again! Paige here to show you how to make a layout featuring paper and ribbon tabs!

First, cut patterned papers, transparencies, and ribbon into strips of different widths and lengths.


Fold each piece of paper and ribbon in half and glue the ends together to create the tabs. If your adhesive isn't strong enough, you may need to stitch across the transparency tabs to make sure they stay closed.

After gluing your photos to your layout, start placing a row of tabs across the top of the photos.
Continue layering tabs in rows until you reach the top edge of the layout.
Embellish the layout with a title, stickers, journaling, and more!

DT Tutorial by Mou

Hi there everyone, Mou Saha here.
This month, I wanted to try a fun little technique of misting on kraft-based patterned paper.


Supplies:
    •    Hambly 12" x 12" Metallic Silver Ink on Kraft Textured Paper
    •    Hambly 12'' x12'' Metallic Gold Ink on Lagoon Blue Metallic Paper
    •    Hambly 5" x 8" Clear Sticker Sheet Alphabet/Woodgrain
    •    Hambly Washi Tape – Yellow-Lime Woodgrain, Gray Doily, and Black Floral
    •    Strips of Hambly 12" x 12" Overlays- Antique White Brocade Blossom and Lime Green 2 Dandelions
    •    Ivory cardstock
    •    Alphabet stencil
    •    Dark Grey Spray Mist
    •    Punch
    •    Mini alphabet stickers
    •    Pen
    •    Paper towel
The technique is super simple. I worked on a small piece, but you can alter a whole background with this technique.
    •    Spray mist on a piece of textured kraft paper. Make sure to protect your work surface first.




    •    Wipe off immediately with a dry paper towel. The paper readily soaks in the ink, so work gently to keep it from tearing. Repeat for more visual dimension. The silver image design acts as a mild resist for the mist.




    •    Lay an alphabet stencil down on the ivory cardstock and spray with the same mist. Layer the misted piece on top.



I chose a dark grey mist to allow the silver design to pop up. It also helped my photo with the light details stand out on a light background and kinda matched the iron scrollwork on the dark doorway in the photo.


Attach photo. Add strips of overlays in green and antique white and secure them in place with pieces of washi tape. Add title and journaling and a butterfly punched out of Lagoon Blue Metallic paper.

DT Tutorial by Janna Werner - cards with circle punches

Hello everyone, this is Janna with a mini tutorial about how to use your circle punches in a different way. The way these circles get punched out and are added to the cards create a light and easy style.


Materials I used:

Hambly:
Rub-Ons: lace borders
Paper: brocade, portrait gallery, brocade blossom, pen & ink, birds on wire
Vellum: portrait gallery
Overlay: woodgrain remix, brocade, lattice

Other:
Cardstock, punches, twine, doilie, tulle, rhinestones, pearls, sequins, button


Punch out a circle from your paper, starting with the smallest of your punches. Put the cut out piece aside and use a bigger punch around the hole you just created.


Depending on where you place the bigger punch, you can create an even or slighty skewed circle.
