Chevron is one of the hottest trends going right now, so incorporating it into paper crafting was a must try for me, and maybe you will be inspired to give it a go as well. I am sure that there are many ways to create this pattern, but I am going to share the way that made the most sense to me and was the easiest for me to be successful with.

I started with ½” paper strips in the two patterns that I wanted to incorporate into the design. I then trimmed them into 2” long pieces.

Use a ruler and a pencil to make a light pencil line across the paper to make sure the chevron stays straight as you work. Adhere a strip of paper to another strip, aligning the bottom right and left edges at right angles. Adhere this piece off the edge to start the chevron pattern. Continue adding strips by lining up the bottom right and left edges of each strips as you adhere them to the page, making sure to keep the point on the line.

Use a straight edge and an exacto knife and line up the top and bottom intersection of the bottom and cut along the edge to get a matching cut, gently and carefully remove the trimmed paper. With this cutting technique your edges will match even if the cut is off a little bit there won’t be any gapping or base layer showing through where the paper edges meet. Repeat for each intersection.

To get the wider chevron pattern I used two strips and instead of cutting them into lengths I used the long strips instead of pre-trimming them. Line up the edges and trim, continuing across the page making sure line up the points along the pencil line.

Now that you have a base page, add pictures, embellishments and photos!!

DT Tutorial by Kim

Hi everyone, Kim from down under again with a quick and simple technique for creating a see through card using a Hambly overlay. For my card I choose an overlay and pattern paper that work well together colorwise, in this case, the Portrait gallery overlay in gold and the pen and ink paper.

Step 1. Take a rectangle of cardstock and fold and score in the middle.
Step 2. On one side of the folded card, trim with your trimmer two thirds of it off.
Step 3. Cut a piece of overlay the same width as your card but slighty shorter than one folded side.
Step 4. Flip the overlay over and with double sided tape attach the overlay to the inside of the short side of your card, making sure you line up the bottom of the overlay with the bottom of the card.
Step 5. Cut a piece of coordinating pattern paper the same width as your card and approx 3 inches long.
Step 6. Again using your doubled sided tape adhere your pattern paper to the top of the card covering the white card then fold it over, score and adhere to the back.
Step 7. To give a nice finish on the inside of your card trim some of the card you removed before to cover the double sided tape and overlay on the inner front.
Step 8. Add some ribbon or trim across the edge of where the overlay and pattern paper meet and add your other embellishments.

It’s that time again and we are excited to announce that we are looking for a new design team for Hambly Screen Prints! We really pride ourselves in our quality products and innovative designs, and we are looking for a team of designers that reflect our company. International submissions are also accepted.

• 4 of your best projects, (One of which has never been seen before) mini-albums, layouts, home decor, diy and/or altered items etc, (under 100k each, .jpg preferred)
• We are looking for a wide variety of designers, if you are card marker, altered artist, scrapbooker and/or multi media designer and want to only submit items that showcase your speciality that’s fine. We want to showcase different design styles.
• We would prefer if at least two projects uses our products so we know that you are familiar using our materials. This, however, is not a requirement. Hambly products can be found at www.HamblyScreenPrints.com, www.twopeasinabucket.com, www.scrapbook.com & more. 
• please title each project with your fullname (ie. YourName1, YourName2, YourName3)
• links to online galleries, blogs
• link to online resume (if available)

 Scope of work

*Design Team members will be offered a non-exclusive 1 year contract with Hambly Screen Prints.

*Hambly Screen Prints Designers are expected to complete 2 layouts/projects per month using Hambly Screen Prints products. 

*Hambly Screen Prints Designers will also be expected to prepare & post 1 monthly project on the blog and occasionally host a chat or challenge in our flickr group, facebook and/or blog. 

*Hambly Screen Prints will provide product to be used for these assignments free of charge.

*Hambly Screen Prints Design Team members will be compensated for all work published on behalf of Hambly Screen Prints. We are a small and growing company and our members should expect an average level of compensation for their work. More details and guidelines will be provided in the contract. 

We will announce the Hambly Screen Prints Design Team Friday November 18, 2011.
