Here's Laurie's Creepy Coffin Candy Boxes...
These Creepy Coffin Candy Boxes are easy and inexpensive to make. It only takes a few scraps to cover, and a few bits to embellish. It’s a great project for crafters of all ages and skill sets.
Before you begin, do a little digging. Sift through your scraps, and go in search of a little orange and black.
Here are the rest of the supplies and tools you’ll need to complete the project:
- Paper Mache Coffin Boxes (available at JoAnns )
- An assortment of papers and overlays in Halloween colors and patterns, (Woodgrain , Doily Décor, High Tea, Frame Wallpaper and Little Circles)
- Lace Border Rub-Ons
- An assortment of Halloween themed rub-ons and stickers, (Out on a Limb Rub-Ons, Spooky Halloween Rub-Ons, Kraft Cardstock Stickers)
- Halloween craft punches (spiders, bats, owls etc…)
- Glue for paper and overlays
- Pencil or pen
- Scissors
- Candy!
Begin by selecting a few styles of lace from your Lace Border Rub-Ons to trim the sides of the box and box lid. Cut them out, and rub them on. Work your way around the box and box lid, and trim each side.
As an alternative to the rub-ons, you can also cut out strips of paper to cover the sides of the box and box lid. Adhere them to the sides using your favorite paper glue.
Select a paper to use as the back ground on your box lid cover. Use the box lid as a template and trace around it on your background paper. Cut out your coffin shape - stay on the inside of your traced line, and cut away your pencil marks. Use your paper glue to adhere this paper coffin shape to the lid of your box. Use your selection of overlays, rub-ons, stickers and punched shapes to create a little Halloween scene.
Fill with candy and share with your favorite spooky people!
