I finally had a chance to take a photo of this wonderful layout/wall decor art made by KL. We had it hanging in the booth at CHA- she used the new Antique Doily paper and put it inside a vintage embroidery frame!! Such a cool technique- I think the picture inside is her Grandpa! She also used the brown sticthes rub-ons to create a border. You can see more of her work on her blog, along with her vintage inspired kit club :)
Here's a video i took in the back of the Hambly Studios today. The guys are silk-screening the new Antique Doily design!!! It sure smells like vanilla around here!
Here's the tutorial for the paper fortune cookies. I put little love notes in mine for Valentines Day, but this could also be fun for Chinese New Year- or think how cute they would be scattered on a table for a Wedding Shower, Wedding Favors, or Baby Shower with customized messages :)
Glue to adhere cookies (i like the Glue Zots, holds them together easily)
Hambly Little Hearts papers (still a few left of the limited edition colors, like i used)
Printed out fortunes to go inside (Here's a PDF of Love Notes i printed from online)
1. Cut out you paper in 4" circles.
2. Gently fold your paper circle in half, and ONLY crease it about 1" in the middle. (You don't need to crease the whole fold, only the middle to help the cookie fold evenly)
3. Place your Glue Zot to either side of the crease as pictured.
4. Hold as pictured below and start to push in at the crease with your index finger on your right hand.
5. You can see the glue right below my index finger, once it starts to fold take out your finger and the glue will hold it together.
6. Keep folding until it looks like a fortune cookie.
7. You can either put the little fortunes in at the end with glue- or slip them in at STEP 4 , and then they will stay folded in, I suggest making the first one without the fortune to get the hang of it, then start folding them in.
I also made a quick video showing the fortunes folded in the cookies. We were having some issue with sound- but at least the video gives you an idea....
Hope you have fun making them :)
Kimberly Crawford who writes creates a lot of crafts and fun projects has a similar tutorial posted on her blog. She also puts them in a take-out box which is such a cute idea!!
I'm sure a bunch of you are already familiar with Cards Magazine (they also make Scrapbook Trends Magazine & Simply Handmade). In the January Issue - (which you can still order from their website) there is a great feature on making cards, The Ultimate Card Class with Hambly products!! Most of the cards were created by Alisha Gordon and Paige Evans and they did an amazing job :) Here's just a preview, plus there are more Hambly cards in the magazine! Very inspiring, hopefully you can check out the whole feature!!!
...I'm working on the Fortune Cookies tonight, so look for that post tomorrow:)
Now that we are back from CHA, we have the Limited Edition Overlays & Papers from the new release for sale. These are only available while supplies last. Plus enjoy free shipping on US orders over $50. (calendars excluded)
Since Valentines Day is just around the corner, i made some cute fortune cookies using the limited edition Little Hearts papers! It was a little tricky, but i love how they look together with the little notes sticking out.
*edit* I've had a few requests for a tutorial on the fortune cookies. I'll work on it tonight and post it by Thursday :) **giveaway**
Post a comment below to be enter in the giveaway. We will pick winners at random to receive a fun selection of the limited edition prints.
It was great to see so many of you stop by the Hambly booth at CHA! We had such a great show and thought it would be fun to post a bunch of pictures from CHA. (including a little how-to video for the bracelet make-n-takes) This post may be a little photo heavy, but hopefully you'll enjoy it :)
To start here's a picture of the Hambly group - Cris, Allison (myself), Harry and Rose. Our booth turned out wonderful! We always have fun decorating it and getting it ready before the crowds come.
I made a new vase to hold the paper flowers for this show by sewing together 2 of the new overlays.
Do you see the new butterflies wall decals on the chairs, also part of the new small wall decals release!!) They go on a lot more surfaces besides walls!
The make-n-takes were a huge success!! Special thanks to DIY Bangles and Judikins for donating the bracelets and diamond glaze.
Here's a video that was taken by Kim Jackson from CK with me showing a quick how-to of the make-n-take. You can see the video along with other fun CHA highlights on the CK blog.
We layered some of our new Doily small wall decals on the make-n-take table.
Amy, and Traci stopped by, once i showed them my iphone with woodgrain rub-ons they both decorated their phones. ( I usually have the transparent blue case over it to protect mine, and you can still see the design. I've had it on since July and it still looks great)
Noell from Paperclippings shot a little video for her website. The girls from Scrap for a Cure were hanging around the booth for a bit. We love these girls, such a fun group & kit club!
I don't want to overwhelm you guys to much, so if you want to see more pics, i'll be setting up a gallery with lots more photos! So much fun- I'm kinda sad CHA is over...
Here's a few of the wonderful layouts we had on display at our booth. These first layouts are from Dina Wakley on our Design Team! I love how she used the Doily paper & vellums! You can see more of her new Hambly layouts on Dina's blog.
Suzy West lives just around the corner from Hambly Studios, so we gave her some new stuff to play with! I just love these 3 layouts she created! The one with the Peacock Feathers might be my favorite!
Oh this one is fun too, i love how Suzy cut the Antique Doily overlay so it goes off the page.
Plus here's one Celine just posted on her blog using the new Doily Decor paper (in Antique White/Metallic Red).
The new stuff will be shipping in 4-6 weeks, but check back in the next few days....we'll have some limited edition colors for sale soon! Last time we sold out of the overlays fast!! Be sure to sign up for the newsletter to get the updates!
