I'm still in Chicago enjoying a white Christmas, and wanted to share a pic of our fun aluminum tree from the 1950's! Vintage xmas decorations are my favorite, so sad they are only up for a month.

Merry Christmas!

So this is a fun surprise, i went to download my pics, and this cute one popped up! My husband must have taken it when i was sleeping. So perfect to share!!

Today I'm heading out to Chicago to be with family. My cousin just had a baby, and my Grandma is 99 so the house with be packed with all ages! (wish us luck that we make it there in the snow) I'll be taking a little blogging break, so i hope you all enjoy the Holidays.

Crafts & Dinner

Now that the whole DT has posted their Holiday Projects, it's my turn. My post is going to be a little different with the Hambly projects at the end. Last week i invited a bunch of friends over last minute for dinner & crafts. I wasn't really sure how it was all going to come together in less than a week, but i have some special people who helped a lot (Thanks Meg, Cass & Zach).

We first enjoyed a wonderful dinner, complete with Christmas colored appetizers, fun cocktails and yummy desserts! 

 

I melted mints in the oven at 250 degrees to make peppermint brownies.

I also made this croquembouche for the first time at Thanksgiving, it was such a hit i made it again, and also included eclairs, for the chocolate lovers.

CRAFT TIME

After dinner we took everything off the table and it became the craft table! (yes this is the same table pictured above)
  It was so much fun. I bought 8" x 10" blank canvas and DIY wood bangles for everyone. Then i grabbed a bunch of Hambly rub-ons (i always have a tons of open packs at the studio) some ranger dabbers & claudine hellmuth studio acrylic paints.  It was fun to see what everyone came up with!   Love what my friend Cara did with her canvas, she did a cute painting and added some rub-ons for the border and a few other places. (it's still in progress here)

The bracelets were also fun. We painted them using Claudine's Studio inks, they dry fast and are perfect for the rub-ons to adhere to.  I (of course) played with the doilies rub-ons.
  

Jenn  layered the rub-ons on hers. ( i think this was her first time using rub-ons.....)

Here's Jenn modeling the bracelets we made. (she also wore the black one to her show on sunday, must be a good craft project if you were it on stage when singing!)   We are hoping to start craft night once a month in 2010.

Holiday DT Project Kara

Here is a little last minute project from Kara to spread some Holiday cheer before the big day!

I'm not one for making cards, but I do love to create handmade postcards for my friends.

I cut up some cereal boxes, glued an address label and Hambly paper to the back. I then added some quirky embellishments and dorky messages to the front.

Add a stamp and drop it in the mailbox!

Products I used-

• Black Moustaches Rub-ons,
• White Christmas decor Rub-ons,
• and the Kraft Elegant Label Stickers.

Holiday DT Project Mandi

Only a couple of days left until Christmas! But there's still time to put together a few things to make your table more festive. If your family has casual Christmas Eve gatherings, like mine, this would be a perfect project for your table.

I found these buckets for a few dollars from a local craft store. I actually bought them a couple of years ago for a bridal shower, but have been keeping them in the basement since then. I thought I would resurrect them with some holiday style using Hambly Christmas rub-ons.

This is a project that you could really do any time of the year. Hambly has a variety of rub-ons perfect for baby showers, bridal showers, New Year's parties, and any kind of party, really. I even have a similar project in mind for Valentine's Day!

Holiday DT projects KL

Design team member KL created a cute Rudolph holiday collage along with a printable PDF so you can create one for yourself. You will need a current version of Adobe Acrobat in order to download & print the pdf, this comes standard with most computer operating systems.

I adore the holidays and when creating holiday projects i love incorporating traditional holiday images with my whimsical vintage style. A few weeks ago I came across this incredible cardboard deer head while shopping online and thought I could re-invent their concept for a cute Rudolph collage using Hambly and some vintage elements.  

For my project I used the following Hambly items; Houndstooth paper, Little Circles paper, Christmas Kraft stickers. I also used a vintage cabinet card frame & a scrap piece of antique ledger paper.

Step 1 : To being you will need to download the pdf I created with the three stacked Rudolph images {here}.

Step 2 : After you have downloaded your pdf cut a piece of your Hambly Screenprints paper to 8.5" x 11" and then print the pdf image onto the back of the printed paper so you can hand-cut all three images without the stencil lines showing {i printed onto the wrong side which led to me needing to be careful about cutting the print lines off}. You could also print the template onto a piece of plain paper and use the Overlays for your pattern as well.

 

Step 3 : Stack all three of your hand-cut Rudolph images onto each other using foam adhesive squares or pop dots. I then mounted my Rudolph onto a vintage cabinet card. I filled the empty cabinet card frame with a piece of the houndstooth paper that was cut to size.

Step 4 : To finish i added snowflakes from the Christmas kraft stickers and a red felt nose. Then i used my vintage typewriter to type "Then all the reindeer loved him" onto a vintage scrap piece of ledger paper, stitched the ledger paper onto the bottom of my card and used a vintage flower frog spike to hold the little collage.

Holiday DT Projects Denise

Here's some fun gift tag from Denise from our DT created. They are simple to create which is perfect for this busy time of year.

Gift Tags
If you’re still wrapping presents and in need of some personalized tags, here are 3 quick and easy ideas. (Keep it simple by working with materials you already have.)



Cover a tag with an overlay
Attach overlay using staples (I added a piece of ribbon on bottom right corner too)
Add stickers (Christmas trees) over overlay
Add journaling sticker to red Hambly companion paper & cut out leaving a border all around
Attach journaling sticker with red border (helps it pop more) to tag using adhesive
Add ribbon through tag

Use library card pocket as envelope
Cut a card using silver Hambly companion paper (folded in half) to fit inside pocket
Punch red starburst & attach Hambly snowflake sticker to starburst

4. Add Hambly stitches rub-ons (in red) to pocket and silver card
5. Adhere starburst/snowflake combo to top of card (leaving half to come off the edge)

6. Attach JOY and snowflake stickers along with title to front of card (image 3)
7. Add jounaling block and red Hambly stitches rubs to inside of card (image 4)

8. Add journaling sticker and tree sticker to pocket to write  “to” and “from” (image 5)
9. Insert card in pocket. Adhere pocket to gift. And you’re done (image 6)

Add stickers and ribbon to an existing printed tag. Easy. Peasy.
