Rose (from the office) brought some of the moustache rub-ons to her nephews birthday party. They had a pumpkin decorating contest! Aren't they funny, these were all decorated by boys ages 5-13. Such a fun idea for kids! What are you guys doing to get ready Halloween?

Let me start by saying that Halloween is my favorite time of the year. I'm pretty sure its becuase of this one main reason, my birthday and my mom's birthday are both Oct. 29! We've had many parties either turning our basement into a Haunted House, going to the Pumpkin Patch or just throwing a fun costume party! Most recently the two of us go to Half Moon Bay where we pick out pumpkins together, and then head down to the ocean to spend the rest of the day.
This year i found these cute cupcake wrappers, and decided to make Halloween cupcakes for work, my mom, and a few parties we are going to this weekend. They were easy & fun to make (i say that now, but still have 24+ more chocolate webs to make).
I also added our new Kraft Halloween stickers on toothpicks for that extra touch!
Here's a link to the template i used to trace the spiderwebs in chocolate, and you can get the Kraft Halloween Stickers from the Hambly Store. They really are fun if you have some extra time before Halloween.
Now i need to work on my costume! I've finish shopping for all the supplies, which include bumpits, glitter, boas, & seqins! We just have more sewing/assembly to do. I'll post pics next week, plus there's more Halloween posts coming over the next few days to get you ready for the 31st!

What I LOVE about Hambly products is that the paint they use for the design on their papers is simply amazing : it works as a resist when it comes to painting on it :)
My favorite are the white designs on the kraft paper : simply use Glimmer Mist, or Color Wash, or any kind of spray paint and spray over your Hambly paper.
Using a towel, add more paint to your paper.
Spray more paint here and there to have darker parts on your background and use a heat gun to make it dry faster.
On this layout, I used purple Glimmer Mist on my kraft Hambly Couture paper and used a heat gun to make the paint dry.
Then use an edge distresser to make it look aged. For the background i used the Old Lace paper.
You can also add rub-ons to your layout, the white doily rub-ons give a nice contrast.
and ta-da! your layout has a vintage but colorful feel! You can give unique colors to your kraft Hambly papers now!

Masking with Transparencies and Spray Paint
You'll need-
Hambly Couture transparency
Hambly On Edge Borders kraft stickers
Hambly Owl & Birds Clear stickers
Vinyl letter stickers (I picked mine up at Office Depot. Letter stickers would probably work also)
Spray Paint
Additional scrap paper
Sewing Machine {optional}
Step 1 : Lay out your transparency over newspaper. I recommend doing this outside to avoid the fumes. Peel the letter stickers off the sheet and apply to them to the transparency how you want them.
Step 2 : Spray the transparency with a thin coat of spray paint about 6 inches away. Add coats until you like the thickness.
Step 3 : Wait until the paint it totally try, peel off the letters, and ta-da! A transparent title! Just add your additional elements, photo and journaling and your layout is complete.

All that is left to do is journal. Note that I left the journaling spots blank to offer the mini to friends so they can write their memories from the day their son was born.

Creating a window card :
Supplies: Hambly "home decor" patterned paper,
Hambly kraft companion paper, Hambly home decor rub ons, Hambly frame rub ons, Xacto
blade, straight edge, adhesive
Step one: Cut cardstock to 5.5" x 11" and the patterned paper to 5.5" square.
Step two: Fold the cardstock in half and adhere the patterned paper to the bottom half. (Make sure the decor items are going the right direction!)
Step three: Cut out the oval frame and rub it onto the center of the patterned paper square.
Step five: select an item from the "home decor" rub on sheet, trim it out, and rub it onto the kraft cardstock inside the empty black frame.

I absolutely adore creating little Halloween vignettes and the new Halloween kraft stickers are so perfect for this. I am so in love with the skeletons, isn't he the cutest guy down there on the base?
Supplies needed :
Hambly Halloween kraft stickers, Hambly black ATC patchwork overlay, Hambly copper companion paper, 3" x 2" scrap of black cardstock, American Crafts black glitter thickers, 3 vintage wooden bingo numbers, gray vintage seam binding {12"}, vintage german book page scallop punch circles, 3 wooden skewers {easily found at your local grocery store}, vintage flower frog spike.
Tools needed :
Foam squares {or Pop Dots}, scissors, pinking shears or decorative edge scissors, ZipDry liquid adhesive, sewing machine {optional}
step 1 : Cut 3 rectangles patterns from the atc patchwork overlay. Cut a piece of the copper companion paper slightly larger using pinking shears on each long side.
step 2 : Cut a notched triangle into one short side of the overlay {you will use this as a guide to trim the companion paper with your pinking shears}
step 3 : Cut the companion paper into a notch using your pinking shears and following the edge of the overlay as a guide.
step 4 : Create the flags by using foam squares {hidden towards middle so they are covered & hidden by other elements}. After applying the foam squares glue a wooden skewer to the straight edge and leave a little peeking out the top so you can glue a wooden bingo token to the top. then stack the scallop punched vintage German book page to the top and a kraft sticker ghost journal spot and then apply a "31" with the glitter thickers, use foam squares between each to add dimension.
Create another flag {point it in the opposite direction, see image above for detail} and apply the word "BOO".
step 5 : Follow the directions in step 4 but apply the Halloween sticker by layering it with a scrap piece of black cardstock and layer over the top with foam squares.
step 6 : Cut off the end of the wooden skewers so they can be displayed at alternating heights and insert cut end into the vintage flower frog spike. Wrap the seam binding around the bottom and tie and insert cute skeleton on one side. {seriously, I just adore him!}
I also wanted to share two more vintage style items that i created with the kraft stickers. I used the same simple directions of outlining the stickers with a background of plain paper and then adding dimension with foam squares.
I love how adding that outline of plain colored paper really helps the Halloween kraft stickers stand out and it's a great way to use up your leftover scraps!

Shadowing with Elements
I simply love the fact that Hambly repeats the same designs with some of their papers, transparencies and rub-ons. It gives you such amazing opportunities to really play with three-dimensionality and create the illusion of shadowing within the design!
I’ll illustrate an example with this card. To duplicate this card, you’ll need:
- White (corrugated) cardstock
- Pink cardstock
- Any design that’s available as both transparency *and* paper – here: Mini Chandeliers in Antique White Overlay and Brown Ink on White Gold Metallic Paper
- Mod Circles overlay
- Vellum
- Spellbinders Nestabilities
- Pop-up glue dots
- Needle and yarn
Pick up the
Mini Chandeliers transparency and paper. Placing the transparency above the
paper, determine which direction and how much “shadow” you want by skewing the
transparency some.
Cut out a large enough piece for your diecut-machine and cut out the piece needed. I used a cuttlebug and cutting both paper and transparency at once was easy enough – just use a re-positionable adhesive between the transparency and paper to make the skewed position stay in place. Remove the adhesive after the cutting out.If you don't have a die-cut machine you can trace a tag or bracket or chipboard piece to get the shape or design you desire.
Adhere the die-cut on the pink cardstock, and cut around it to create a small, pink edge. Adhere the transparency straight above the paper-version by using pop-up glue dots strategically (behind the chandeliers so they won’t be too visible).
Cut and score a 11,5x5,5” rectangle of the corrugated cardstock. Cut and score 11x4,5” of the mod circles transparency. Cut and score 10x4” of the vellum.
Using a thick needle and some thin yarn, tie the card together with two (or even three or more) holes in the spine and tie the yarn on the outside with a cute bow.
Adhere the die-cut on the front page.
A similar example can be seen in this layout I made earlier this year using rub-ons and transparencies of the same kind of design. Rub-on on bottom and the transparency directly over the rub-on.
