retro stickers

One of the great things about working at Hambly is all the history here. I was in the back of the studio looking for packing tape the other day, and i came across an old container filled with stickers! I hadn't seen a lot of these designs before. They are at least 20 yrs old (and are still sticky).  I just love the artwork, so simple with clean lines and nice silhouettes. Do you see the elephant and monkey - so cute and they are flocked!! Oh and the apple trees, cupcake and retro snails...I think we may have to bring back some of the designs for the 2009 release! What do you think?

a colorful layout

Thanks for all the great feedback on the post below about what you'd like to see on the blog. A lot of you asked about adhesives, i have this post set up with what our favorite adhesives are. My personal favorite are the UHU glue roller and the Kokuyo Dot n Roller both are pretty transparent, have a strong hold and are easy to use. Also mini glue dots are perfect for the overlays, you can hide them under the printed area, and they are also a very strong adhesive.

I've been working on setting up galleries for our new design team! I'm just starting to get some new layouts from the girls. I'll have to start posting them later this week, to give you guys a little preview.

A friend showed me this layout by Suz Doyle (from Australia)! It's so creative i thought it would be fun to post on the blog. This is what she said about the layout "Suz loves Hambly transparencies ...even the smallest leftover piece is saved and kept in a 12x12 bag that she rummages through at some point in almost every layout she creates.  And those leftover pieces created great happiness in her when she discovered that between those and a couple of the newest Brocade 12x12 sheets, she could create rainbows. A tip though - don't try and cut transparencies with a circle punch unless you want your punch to end up in the bin like hers is now.  Instead for most of these Suz had to lovingly trace and cut out with scissors.  It was worth it though to create rainbows and celebrate the smiley faces that her daughter Phoebe likes to leave drawn around the house for her to find - yes, even in her dried paint palette."

I think the tip about the punches is good. Our overlays are on the heavy side, which is great since you can use them as a clear page alone, but just be careful since some punches won't punch through them.

who knew postage stamps could be so cool!

We just silk-screened my wedding invites at Hambly last week! Only 2 months left....ahh! (lots to do)

I also had fun using my silhouette to die-cut these fun labels for the reply card. I love that little machine :)
Zach also helped and designed the frames in Adobe Illustrator, maybe he'll be designing some product for us in the future, i was very impress with his bézier curve skills.

I thought i was going to have the hardest time finding stamps that looked good on the invite. I was trilled when i saw they release Charles & Ray Eames stamps in June of this year. So perfect, these are the best stamps i've ever seen!!!

last week was crazy busy! between the studio tours and getting everything ready for Scrapfest i didn't have a chance to blog (or pick winners for the giveaway). i can't believe how many comments there are  now 729!!! I'll be posting the winners for the new kraft stickers tomorrow. i think it may take a while for me to read all of them.
